In ancient Hebrew culture they feared to use His name at ALL. It was looked upon as being disrespectful.
Are we supposed to even try to name Him...
He is ineffable.
Are we greater than Him that we can put a name on Him.
Isaiah 42:
8 I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.
The word interpreted as 'LORD' there is the Hebrew word ' יהוה ' - YHVH - The transliteration of that word is 'Yĕhovah
' - Pronounced 'yeh·ho·vä'' - The english translation would be "The Existing One". The word translated as ' name ' in the text can also be translated as name or reputation, fame, glory, memorial, monument.
When Moses asked for His name He said; 'I AM THAT I AM'.
His name could never have been Jehovah as the Hebrew language did not have the letter 'J' in it. The word Yĕhovah had been latinized and the letter Y has been replaced with the letter J. So the word Jehovah is "still" a mistranslation of the original word Yĕhovah or YHVH.
Yehoshua the Messiah, the Christ did not call our heavenly Father by a name either. He referred to Him as Father. And when Yehoshua taught His disciples to pray He told them to pray 'Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name'.
What are your thoughts...?
